The National Weather service in Fairbanks (Alaska) posted this photo taken from a wildfire on Monday that generated a "smokenado."

If you think this is a rare sight --- it might not be as unlikely as witnessing a tornado in Alaska. According to UStornadoes.com:

Out of all 50 states, Alaska is the state that has the lowest number of recorded tornadoes.  There have only been four recorded tornado events since 1950, the last of which occurred on August 25th, 2005.
