If you are an extrovert like me and get some high anxiety at times, maybe you find yourself writing in a journal to calm down and clear your mind. Writing, in my opinion, really can heal and give you some peace of mind. It allows you to work through your feelings and life choices, especially during times of a pandemic. I am not the only one who feels this way, which is why this story is so incredible.

According to the Des Moines Register, there is a woman in Ames by the name of Robin Schinnow is a licensed therapist who wrote a Haiku at the beginning of this pandemic to share thoughts on it. She decided to share it to some of her Facebook friends and then decided to start a Facebook group for others to join in on the fun and write their own pandemic related Haiku's.

Today, the Facebook group has grown to more than 800 members all across the country with members sharing their own Haiku's of how the pandemic is making them feel and how they are surviving. For some this became therapeutic and a way for them to stay connected during the pandemic. Well, this Facebook group has led to a new book...."Pandemic Haiku: Volume One."

This book contains over 100 haikus from the Facebook group and became available on April 18th on Amazon. All the proceeds from the book are going towards the Des Moines Outreach Program.
