The Fargo Force erased a 3-0 deficit for a 5-3 win Friday against the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena on Friday, December 8, 2017.

Waterloo led 3-2 going to the third period, but Logan Jenuwine knocked in the equalizer at with 11:09 remaining, capitalizing from close range during a power play. Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup gave the visitors their first lead less than two minutes later; after a faceoff win, his quick shot found the top corner. Mark Senden added an empty-netter with 7.3 seconds to go.

The Black Hawks had played a brilliant period of special teams hockey to open the game. Waterloo killed two Fargo power plays in the opening 20 minutes while allowing a negligible number of chances.

At the other end of the rink, the Hawks scored two power play goals during just 16 seconds of time spent on the advantage. Ethan Johnson potted the opening goal inside the wide-side post with a wrist shot during the opening seconds of a power play at 12:35. Nearly five minutes later, a faceoff win by Garrett Klee allowed Hank Sorensen the opportunity to slip in his shot from the slot.

Waterloo extended the lead in the second, but ultimately the Force closed back in. Joey Cassetti tipped Kyle Koopman’s shot following a faceoff win, building the margin to 3-0 at 1:43. The Hawks could not stretch farther ahead during a power play, and when Nick Cardelli came out of the penalty box, he was the beneficiary of a breakaway pass. His resulting shot went in off the glove of Jared Moe. Fargo closed to within one at 13:50 when Ty Farmer’s attempt from the right point bounced in off a defender.
