Ethan Phillips scored two third period goals to boost the Sioux Falls Stampede past the Waterloo Black Hawks 4-2 at Denny Sanford Premier Center Thursday night.

Phillips broke a 2-2 tie at 10:15 of the final frame, blasting in the Stampede’s second period play goal of the night at the end of a sequence of quick passes. Less than two minutes later, Phillips eluded a pair of Hawks defenders, to score again.

The Black Hawks rallied with a pair of power play goals in the final half of the first from Joe Cassetti and Emil Ohrvall.

Waterloo is currently in 2nd place in the Western Conference, just 3 points behind the Tri-City Storm and Des Moines Buccaneers.
