One of the highlights of the summer of 2020, and let me tell you there were very few, was still being able to head out to Riverfront Stadium and take in a baseball game with the Waterloo Bucks. Our "boys of summer" made it exciting too, they fielded a very good team that ended up being the "Minnesota-Iowa Region Champion" in a shortened season.

Now we set our sights on the future, and what we hope can be a 2021 season that starts on time and plays a normal schedule. In the meantime, on the heels of Veterans Day, the Bucks are seeking nominations for their 7th annual "Military Heroes Class". According to a press release: This special group will represent each branch of the military and honor those who are currently serving our country, veterans who have served in the past, but are no longer active, and those who bravely fought for our country, but have since passed away.

The ceremony for the 2021 "Military Heroes Class" will be at Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium before a game on or around Independence Day. Those military heroes selected (and their families) will be honored on the field, highlighted on the Bucks’ LED Video Board, and will receive four tickets to that game.

Nominations for the "Military Heroes Class" will begin immediately. The first 20 submissions will be accepted into the 2021 group, as individuals are urged to enter their nominations right away. Nominations will be taken until January 31st OR until 20 submissions are received. To give all past and current military the opportunity to be honored, the Bucks ask that those veterans included in previous classes from 2016-2020 not be nominated again.

Nomination forms can be accessed online here. All nominations must include a photo of the Military Hero when submitting the form online. For more information, contact Dan Corbin at (319) 232-0500 or by e-mail at corbin@waterloobucks.com.
