Welp, 2020 continues to disappoint us. It's the first day of fall which has us thinking about Halloween. If you were hoping to continue the tradition and go trick-or-treating with the kiddos this year, you may want to think again.

According to Iowa News Now, the Centers for Disease Control says that "participating in traditional trick-or-treating would be considered a high-risk activity". Not exactly what we want to hear, but it does make sense. You would be relying on the cleanliness of those handing out the candy. The CDC also says that even a "socially-distanced gathering would be a moderate risk."

So since everything seems to be a risk, how are we supposed to safely celebrate the holiday? Well, the recommendations include "having a scavenger hunt-style trick-or-treat search with members of your own household" or putting individually wrapped grab-and-go goodie bags at the edge of your property.

No matter how you intend to celebrate the holiday, it'll be fun to a least dress up. Here are some of this year's most popular costumes for kids, adults, and even pets! Some of my favorite ideas include Carol Baskin and Ruth from the Netflix series Ozark. Check out some other costume ideas for this year here.
