One man is behind bars, charged with the murder of a Cedar Rapids man early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to the report of a shooting at 932 38th St. SE Saturday morning at 5:43 a.m. Officers found 31-year-old Wayne T. Jones of Cedar Rapids suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, Jones died just over an hour later at a Cedar Rapids hospital.

Police investigators developed a suspect over the weekend and arrested 36-year-old Jermaine A. Walker of Cedar Rapids Sunday, November 3 at 9:16 p.m. He was located inside a vehicle at 4035 Mount Vernon Road Southeast, in the parking lot of Hy-Vee.

Walker faces charges of Murder in the First Degree, Going Armed with Intent, Intimidation with a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm as a Felon. He's being held at the Linn County Jail.

The above case was the second murder in Cedar Rapids last week. The first involved a Wednesday, October 30 shooting at the Kum and Go at the corner of 1st Ave and 32nd St. N.E. The shooting, which happened just before 8 a.m, resulted in the death of  27-year-old Reginald Ward, Jr., of Moline, Illinois. No arrests have been made in that case.
