The FAA is going to be busy in eastern Iowa, investigating 2 plane accidents, and now a helicopter that went down near Marion.

This latest incident happened shortly after 7:30pm Tuesday (Aug. 13), southeast of Marion.

Pilot Cole Norton of Marion was flying the chopper over the site of a weekend plane crash. The helicopter experienced a mechanical problem, forcing the pilot to land in a nearby corn field.

Norton and his passenger, Martin Brown of Wichita, Kansas, were not injured.
The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

The FAA continues to investigate the causes of a deadly crash in Sumner last Thursday morning, in which a crop duster clipped power lines and crashed near a business, killing the pilot. Authorities are also still looking at a small plane that went down in a cornfield, shy of the Marion airport on Saturday. The pilot and passenger were not hurt.
