The 2017 Class 2A Iowa High School Volleyball State Tournament championship game is sent, and it looks to be the match of the day.

Class 2A top seed Dike-New Hartford (49-3) made quick work of Council Bluffs St. Albert (28-4) 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-6) during their semifinal match. The Wolverines tallied an impressive 53% kill ratio, and four players reach double digit kills: Morgan Weber (11), Amy Rickert (11), Baylee Petersen (11), and Carlee Davis (10). Madison Hedges added 42 assists.

Grundy Center (37-7) had their hands full dealing with volleyball powerhouse Western Christian (39-6) during the other semifinal match. A slow start in the first set by Grundy Center allowed Western Christian to jump out to the quick lead and win (25-21). There was plenty of fight still in the Spartans as they would battle Western Christian making them earn the wins in sets two and three (25-21, 25-21).

That sets up a championship match that most say will be the match to watch on championship Friday. Western Christian has won the Class 2A title 16 of the past 17 years. Dike-New Hartford has been the top team all season. The two square off for the 2017 Class 2A Iowa High School Volley State Championship Friday, November 10 at the US Cellular Center (Cedar Rapids, IA). The title match begins at 4:45 PM.
