Gladbrook-Reinbeck came up just a little short in its attempt at winning the school's first state volleyball championship.

Burlington Notre Dame rallied late in the fourth set to claim the Class 1A title. The Rebels left Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids with the second-place trophy Thursday night, following their first appearance in the championship since since 1988.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck lost the first set 25-20, but rallied back to tie the match with a 25-21 victory in the second set. Notre Dame took care of business in the final two sets, 25-18 and 26-24. The Nikes rallied from a 21-15 deficit to win the fourth set and the championship.

Senior Saari Kuehl led the Rebels with a double-double in the final match of her high school career. The Southwest Minnesota State recruit led Gladbrook-Reinbeck with 22 kills and 24 digs, both match-highs.

Kuehl earned a spot on the seven-member all-tournament team, as did the Rebels' Ava Wyatt. Gabby Gergen of Janesville was also named to the squad.
