Special ticket policies are in place for this week's high school football playoff games involving Waterloo West and Cedar Falls, both of which are on the road.

The Wahawks play third-ranked (Associated Press poll) West Des Moines Dowling Catholic at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Cedar Falls faces second-ranked Ankeny. Friday's third-round playoff games kick-off at 7 PM.

Due to safety concerns associated with the coronavirus pandemic, advance ticket purchases are required for fans attending either game. With spectator attendance limited at both facilities, no tickets will be sold at the gate.

According to Waterloo School District administrators, each participant from West will be given five vouchers to share with family and friends. People with vouchers can purchase their playoff ticket at West High's Business Office during school hours, anytime between 8 AM Wednesday and 1 PM Friday.

The ticket policy adopted for Friday night's playoff game at Drake Stadium is similar to the procedure that West has used for its home games at Waterloo Memorial Stadium this season.

Ankeny is using a similar ticket procedure, Cedar Falls Athletic Director Troy Becker said. According to Becker, the Tigers are being allowed 500 wristbands for the game. Each player will be given a certain number of wristbands to share with their family and friends, which gives them the right to purchase a ticket.

Cedar Falls and West both received first-round playoff byes. The Tigers (5-2) advanced to the third-round following a 35-0 win over Cedar Rapids Washington at the UNI-Dome Friday evening. The Wahawks (4-4) recorded their first postseason victory since 1991 when they beat Fort Dodge 24-17 at Waterloo Memorial Stadium in the second round.

Dowling and Ankeny both had decisive second-round playoff wins after receiving first-round byes. The Maroons (6-1) defeated Sioux City North 65-11, and the Hawks (7-1) shutout Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson 70-0.

Fans attending this week's playoff games at Drake Stadium or Ankeny must wear a mask, and social distancing guidelines will be in place.
