ORIGINAL STORY:

Waterloo School District officials have altered the start time for tonight's basketball doubleheader between East and West High Schools, due to winter weather.

The girls' game, originally scheduled to begin at 6 PM, will now tip off at 4 PM at West's Siddens Gymnasium. The boys' game will follow, starting at approximately 5:30 PM.

The decision to move the doubleheader ahead two hours was made in an attempt to avoid an approaching winter storm, district officials said. The storm is expected to dump 3 to 6 inches of snow on the Cedar Valley and surrounding areas. A winter storm warning is posted for most of Iowa until 6 PM Saturday.

In a press release, district officials said they will monitor the weather closely regarding any decision to postpone or cancel these games or other athletic events and activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
