Drivers, always be on the lookout for deer entering the road, especially this time of the season, mostly at dawn and dusk.


The Fayette County Sheriff reports such an accident which happened Friday (Oct. 23) on Harding Road near Clermont.

A southbound Jeep Patriot driven by 31 year old Daniel Mathis of Waukon, colided with a deer in the Northeast part of the county.

The deer entered the roadway from the west ditch, and struck the Jeep. Mathis was not injured, but there was $1,500 damage to his vehicle.

The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Clermont EMS and Fire Department.
