Russian Instagram influencer Ekaterina Karaglanova was found dead inside a suitcase in her apartment on July 26, just four days before her 25th birthday, and now authorities believe they know who committed the heinous crime.

According to multiple outlets, the young woman's ex-boyfriend Maxim Gareyev confessed to the murder in a video obtained by Russia's top law enforcement body. In the clip, he admitted to stabbing her "at least five times in the neck and chest" and claimed she had repeatedly insulted his “sexual dignity” and “financial capabilities” and he just couldn't take it anymore. Later, he said he regretted killing her and would cooperate with authorities.

Karaglanova's parents notified her landlord when they hadn't heard from her in several days. Together, they entered her apartment in Moscow and discovered a large suitcase with a pair of legs sticking out of it in the hallway. The social media personality's body was stuffed inside the luggage, with stab wounds found along her neck and chest area.

Karaglanova had a birthday trip to the Netherlands planned on July 30 with her current boyfriend. Her last social media post was dated July 22, sharing a recent trip to Greece. "I travel often, but in every country I spend no more than 3-5 days," the caption, translated by E! News, reads. "The longest journey of my life was in Israel with my family, when I was 14. We went to visit for a whole month, covered the whole country. Now I prefer to travel very often, but briefly...The impressions of such short trips remain the brightest."
