It always fun to go a Black Hawks game and watch the team and wonder...who could be the next NHL superstar?

Former Black Hawks star Joe Pavelski (2002/03 & 2003/04 seasons) is about to make history! He's on track to appear in his 1,000th NHL game later Friday night. Only 340 players have ever reached the milestone in a century of NHL hockey, and the number of American players is just a fraction of that total.

This Friday, the Dallas Stars visit the Florida Panthers at 6 p.m. Central, and barring the unforeseen, it will be a special night for Waterloo’s most prolific NHL alumnus. Pavelski has taken the ice for 998 career regular season games. Thursday, he and the Stars face-off against the Tampa Bay Lightning for 999. Friday versus the Panthers should be #1,000.

It’s a number which speaks to the forward’s durability. During seven of his first 13 years in the league, Pavelski did not miss a regular season game.

So, CONGRATULATIONS JOE from all the Black Hawks fans cheering you on, from back here in Waterloo, where it all started!
