On Sunday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered more businesses in the state to close down for the remainder of the month. Those businesses include salons, barbershops, swimming pools, and tanning salons.

Gov. Reynolds announced the expanded disaster declaration during a Sunday afternoon news conference at the state emergency operations center. The listed businesses will be closed through at least March 31. The order can be extended if necessary.

Just one month after the Governor requested all Iowa schools shut down, the Governor was asked about closing Iowa daycare centers. Reynolds said that the impact of closing childcare centers could have drastic effects on workers in essential services like health care and those that work in grocery stores. Currently, Iowa Department of Human Services officials are working with county, church, and school leaders on the best ways to make childcare available for those who need it.

The Governor also stated that she is currently NOT considering a shelter in place order that has been issued in states like California, New York, and Illinois.
