Great Time to be an Iowa College Football Fan

Both football programs get national attention.

With rankings going on all the time, until this week rankings were pretty arbitrary. But this is the first week where the rankings actually matter. Every since college football switched to a playoff bracket format, the rankings show the 4 teams that make the playoffs, the 2 that are just outside, and the rest of the top 25 best teams in the country.

With this being the first week that the top 25 teams in the country really matter, both Iowa and Iowa State's football programs are ranked! Iowa comes in at the number 16 slot and Iowa State ranks 24.

Iowa is one of only 2 states in the country with multiple schools ranked in the top 25.

As of the first week of the college football rankings, Iowa is currently projected to play Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Iowa State is currently projected to play Arizona State in the Cheez-It Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona.
