Hawkeye Community College hosted the grand opening  of a brand new cafe in downtown Waterloo. The cafe cleverly named "Mac's Place" is located in the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center at 120 Jefferson St. The 'shop' is named after R.J. McElroy a former Waterloo radio and Tv broadcaster.

McElroy had a trust fund that donated $500,000 to the 12.96 million dollar building and students, staff, and board members of the trust were present for the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The cafe open's its doors at 7:30 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. Tuesday's and Thursday's are the slight exception however, where they'll stay open until 7:00 p.m. to serve adult learning center students and staff. Read the full article here.
