46-year-old Stan Crunk and 45-year-old James Castile were pulled over during a traffic stop late last month. A police dog detected drugs in their vehicle and police found more than 200 grams of meth, along with thousands of dollars in cash.

The force was  able to get a search warrant for Castile’s home where they found more drugs as well as information about a storage unit in his name.

Officers went to the unit and recovered an additional 58 pounds of meth and thousands of dollars more in cash. Crunk and his cohort are being held on meth trafficking charges. [WFIE-TV]

A guy named Crunk...got caught WITH crunk. You can't make this stuff up.

Omena, MI- This town has completely lost its faith in humans.

A new mayor has been elected--a 9-year-old cat named Sweet Tart McKee. The feline previously served as Omena's vice mayor.

Sweet Tart campaigned against 13 dogs, a peacock, a goat, a chicken and another cat, all of which were awarded positions in the village council. Votes were cast through $1 donations, with all the money being donated to the local historical society.

Omena has had an animal mayor for more than a decade. Sweet Tart will hold office (or would it be "paw"-fice?) until the village's next election in 2021. [UpNorthLive.com]

Come to think of it...this may be the best way to fix the election process.

Around 2:00 a.m. Saturday police say 22-year-old Brady Reiff approached a parked U of I patrol car and attempted to open the vehicle’s passenger door.

He reportedly asked the officer for a ride home, and Reiff told the cop, quote, "he thought that was our job."

Reiff's blood alcohol content was .204--more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit. Reiff, a starting defensive tackle for the Hawkeyes, was arrested for public intoxication and has been suspended for the team's season opener on September 1st. [Cedar Rapids Gazette]

I mean, at least he wasn't trying to drive himself home. #SilverLining
