Iowa Hawkeye junior center Luka Garza is off to a great start in 2019. Garza led Iowa with 29 points on Thursday night as Iowa turned back a fiesty North Florida team 83-68. Garza has scored 59 points the past two games and leads all centers in scoring nationally at 22.5 points per game.

Garza, and the Hawkeyes for that matter, got off to a slow start. He missed his first 5 shots and had two of them blocked. North Florida shot out to a quick 12.6 lead. But Garza finished with 18 first-half points and Iowa led by five at intermission. Iowa used a 17-4 run to start the second half and never looked back.

Freshman Joe Toussaint looked good at the point for the Hawkeyes. He scored 10 points and had 4 assists in 19 minutes of play. His quickness was definitely noticeable on the court for Iowa.

Sophomore Joe Wieskamp added 14 points for Iowa as the Hawkeyes improve to 3-1 on the year. They host Cal Poly Sunday at 4 p.m.
