As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create new challenges, the latest is hitting the food supply in the form of a meat shortage nationwide. As a result, Iowa based Hy-Vee has decided to begin enforcing a limit on the amount of meat its customers can purchase at one time.

According to a press released sent to this station, beginning on Wednesday, May 6,  each customer will be limited to four packages of meat. This includes fresh beef, ground beef, chicken and/or pork.

As you've likely noticed if you've been grocery shopping lately, fresh meat is becoming more difficult to find, and the cost has risen on many meat products already. Despite recent improvements at the Waterloo plant, much of this is due to COVID-19 related illnesses and issues like the one at Tyson's meat plant.
