A weekend rollover accident in Buchanan County led to the arrest of an Independence man who was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

Sheriff's officials took 45-year-old John Williams into custody following an investigation into the single-vehicle crash, which occurred around 7:30 AM Saturday near the intersection of 100th Street and "N" Avenue southeast of Oelwein. Deputies responding to a report of the rollover found the vehicle upside down in a ditch with no occupants present.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that Williams was driving the vehicle westbound on 100th Street and lost control. He was later found in the 700 block of Oak Street in Lamont, where he was taken into custody.

According to sheriff's officials, there were two active warrants for Williams' arrest out of Buchanan County for failure to appear in court and a probation violation. Williams was also cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
