A construction project on Iowa Highway 14 between Grundy Center and Marshalltown will impact motorists most of the summer.

Iowa Department of Transportation officials said the concrete overlay project will require closing Iowa 14 in Grundy and Marshall Counties, forcing traffic to follow a marked detour route. During the closure, traffic will be directed around the work zone using Grundy/Marshall County Road T-29 and Iowa Highway 96 (see map below).

The three-month project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 1 and continue until early September, weather permitting.

Iowa DOT officials remind motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
