A huge honor was recently bestowed on an Iowa high school band, as Waukee will play at the 2021 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California!

Waukee's band director made the announcement on Friday at the school. Needless to say, the students and band members were ecstatic. It's a rare achievement, and Waukee is only the seventh Iowa high school band to ever accomplish it.

Waukee junior James Tormey is a drum major and talked to We Are Iowa about the band's hard to work to get here. "Everyone is dedicated to this band, so it’s a huge success. It demonstrates how hard we’ve all been working."

Congratulations. It will be fun to see a band from the Hawkeye state performing on the nationally-televised game on January 1, 2021. Now, if one certain team on-field happens to be wearing black and gold and come out of Iowa and the Big 10, that would be even better, but we can't promise anything.

We can promise Waukee band members and students will have a memory they won't forget.
