The population in Iowa is 3.1 million. The number of COVID vaccines we'll likely receive this month is 172,000. Not bad, for starters. Today in her COVID-19 presser, Gov. Reynolds laid out many COVID-19 vaccine specifics including exact dates and brands we'll be receiving in the Hawkeye State.

KCCI reports the vaccine, pending approval, will start arriving in the form of 26,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine around December 13. Remember, the Pfizer vaccine requires being kept frozen at temps colder than 90-degrees below zero Fahrenheit. Shortly after, 31 more doses of the Pfizer vaccine are should arrive the week of December 20. Iowa also expects 54,000 doses of the less temperamental Moderna vaccine that same week, pending approval of course. Gov. Reynolds did say these dates and the total doses are rough estimates and subject to change.

Before you get too excited, or nervous the vaccine could be stolen, the Iowa Department of Public Health made sure to clarify exact locations of the drugs and related infrastructure details will not be made public to ensure safe vaccine distribution, and insure theft is not likely to happen.

For many, the vaccine cannot come soon enough. As of this morning, Thursday, the Iowa DPH reported 70 more COVID-19 deaths and over 2,920 additional positive cases in the state.
