There's almost no place I'd rather be than fishing. Anytime, anywhere.

One of my favorite places in the world is my brother's farm pond. Out in the middle of nowhere, it's truly an escape from this crazy world we live in. And when it's spawning season, it's even better, the fish basically jump in the boat. Don't get me wrong, I grew up fishing on the Wapsipinicon River with my Dad, catching the biggest blue catfish you'll ever see. So, with a 'tip of the cap" to all of the fantastic farm pond and river fishing in Iowa, let's take a look at some of the best lakes to go fishing at in our great state.

The first three Iowa lakes made FishAnywhere.com's list of top fishing destinations in each of the 50 states, and then I added a couple of my own that seem worthy of packing a lunch, grabbing a cooler full of beer and throwing in a line.
