With the scare for Tik Tok fans earlier this week of the app being banned from the U.S., the concern turned to how we were all going to make our 15 second, 30 second or minute creative videos and what we were going to do with all this free time?! (Honestly, I am not actually on Tik Tok that much but I know how much time it takes up) Don't worry Tik Tok users, Instagram Reels is here to save the day.

Instagram Reels is  a new feature on the Instagram app that allows users to create 15 second video clips with music, filters, speed changes and AR effects that you can then share straight to your followers on your feed or make it public for people to find when searching Instagram. Reels will then show up on other people's feeds as they explore what is going on that day on IG. If looking to create a reel, all you need to do is go to where you would normally add a "story" and then swipe left at the bottom from "story" to "reels" and there you have it!

The question now is will it stand up to the quality test of Tik Tok? Let's be honest here, Instagram is owned by Facebook and they are known for not really coming up with new ideas but rather using other ideas and turning it into their own thing. Like filters from the app Snapchat created the idea of filters on Instagram and reels on Instagram have way too much a resemblance to the app Tik Tok so as time goes on and Tik Tok doesn't (hopefully) get banned, we will see which feature becomes more popular.
