A young Northeast Iowa man could spend his next 27 years in prison if he is convicted of the drug charges filed against him, following Tuesday night (July 14) searches in West Union.


Just after 10:30pm, the Fayette County Sheriff executed search warrants at several residences in West Union, in reference to illegal drugs. During the search, illegal substances and multiple guns were confiscated.

The suspect, 18 year old Kenneth Gerleman Jr., was taken into custody on charges of Drug Distribution to a Minor, Possession of a Controlled Substance-1st Offense-Marijuana, Possession of Cannabidiol-1st Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gerleman was held in the Fayette County jail. The sheriff was assisted by the Police Departments from West Union and Fayette.

If found guilty of all of the charges, he could receive 27 years in prison. More charges could be filed, and the investigation continues...
