As the election draws closer, political tension continues to rise and rise. The latest local instance involves popular brewery and restaurant SingleSpeed. The brewery turned down a request from the Black Hawk County Republicans group to hold an election night party at their downtown Waterloo location.

Black Hawk County Republican treasurer LeaAnn Saul claims that in an email response from SingleSpeed owner Dave Morgan, he stated he did not want the group to hold its event at SingleSpeed due to a 'difference in core beliefs'.

When Saul pushed for a more specific reason Morgan would not allow the group to have its election night party at SingleSpeed, Morgan stated that it 'just doesn't feel like the right fit.' Saul released her email correspondence with Morgan after his decision to not allow the Black Hawk County Republicans to have the party there on election night.

Morgan says that SingleSpeed will hold its own, nonpartisan election night party on Tuesday, November 6th.
