Someone Is Spending Movie Money In The Cedar Valley

This is a new definition of 'funny money'. Over the last month or so, Waterloo police have received several reports of fake Hollywood versions of cash or prop money, being passed off as real US currency.

Police say it often comes in cycles. The funny money clearly states it's 'For Motion Picture Use Only,' and is hence NOT legal tender. Despite that message, police warn it does look otherwise very legit. Any retailer who has the special pen used to detect counterfeit bills CAN use this tool to detect the movie money as being fake.

The fake money is easy to find online, and can (legally) be purchased. It makes a fun Hollywood collectors item, and can be displayed or photographed - but never passed off as real, legitimate US currency. If anyone knowingly purchases, or even attempt to purchase something with fake currency of any kind, then that could lead to arrest.
