A Waterloo teenager was killed in an apparent shooting in the city late Monday.

Police told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier that a 15-year-old boy showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds shortly after the 10 PM shooting. The boy later died of the injuries he suffered in the shooting, authorities said.

Officials did not immediately identify the victim. The case remains under investigation.

Monday night's shooting occurred in the 2800 block of East Fourth Street. Acccording to the Courier, police found several spent shell casings in an alley. At least one home in the neighborhood was struck by a bullet, authorities said.
