It's natural to get a little mixed up when you come to a new place, but in Iowa, that doesn't mean some of the things we hear from newcomers aren't cringeworthy.

"There's nothing to do in Iowa!" Adventureland in Des Moines, the Amana Colonies, Maquoketa Caves State Park, The Bridges Of Madison County, The Field of Dreams in Dyersville, The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Just to name a few of the attractions in our state.

"I bet you eat a lot of potatoes". Wrong state. You're thinking of Idaho. We do eat a lot of potatoes but we're not known for them. This is almost as annoying as the next stereotype.

"Iowa? Isn't that the state covered in corn?". Yeah, so remember us at your next cookout when you're chomping on that corn on the cob. I'll never get the negative connotation with a state's common food. We're feeding you!

"Have you ever met Ashton Kutcher?" Personally, no, I haven't but a lot of folks in Iowa have because "Iowa nice" is definitely a thing, even among our state's most famous names. We're a down to earth, humble bunch.
