The list of area town celebrations that have been canceled this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow. Three more annual events were called off this week.

One of the casualties of the health crisis is the Cedar Basin Music Festival in Cedar Falls, an event that's traditionally held the last weekend of June as part of -- but separate from -- the Sturgis Falls Celebration. This year's festival was scheduled for June 26-28.

In a press release, organizers of the Cedar Basin Music Festival said they felt cancelling this year's event was the right decision in order to keep all would-be attendees safe. They said conversations have been held about a possible scaled-down version of the festival this fall, but no plans have been finalized.

Committee members in charge of the 45th annual Sturgis Falls Celebration cancelled their event two weeks ago.

In addition to the Cedar Basin Jazz Festival, two other summer traditions were canceled this week. Organizers of Shell Rock's 4th of July Celebration and Grundy Center's Felix Grundy Festival, scheduled for mid-July, also announced the cancellation of their events earlier this week.
