A University of Iowa fraternity is under investigation after the frat allegedly threw a party during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to KCRG, Sigma Chi could be facing disciplinary action after allegedly hosting a party with 30 to 50 people during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Office of Student Accountability is looking into allegations against Sigma Chi. The fraternity hosted an event on March 28th and with the attendance being between 30 to 50 people, social distance orders by Governor Reynolds were broken.

The current social distancing orders in place in Iowa limits gatherings to ten or fewer people. Sigma Chi could face disciplinary sanctions by the University of Iowa, depending on what the investigation reveals.

KCRG reports that right now because of the pandemic, only 12 of the 26 Greek community chapter homes associated with Iowa are closed. Others Greek houses are partially open with at least one member approved to live there.

The incident is still under investigation.
