Waterloo residents will be able to be even safer with the new mobile app from the Waterloo Police Department.

According to KWWL, the City of Waterloo and the Waterloo Police Department have teamed up with a company called "Atlas One" to start using their free mobile app to help inform residents of public safety issues. Basically the "Atlas One" app will allow city officials to send notifications to residents where there is a safety issue whether that be via text, photo, video or article.

Those whom chose to use the app will be able to add their favorites to get updates on such as restaurants, businesses or schools and as for concerns of sharing private information, the Waterloo Police have assured the public that sharing their location only allows the app to notify those in the area of an emergency, the personal information will not be shared with any third parties.

If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, check out how to get signed up for it here. The app is available now.
